Jacques Home

Jacques Heim was a French fashion designer, as well as wardrobe for theater and cinema. He was born on May 8, 1899 in Paris and died on January 8, 1967 in Suresnes. He directed from 1930 until its death the house of fashion Jacques Heim and was president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Paris Sewing between 1958 and 1962.

The parents, immigrants Jewish-Polish, opened in 1898 in Paris a workshop of fur. In the 1920s, his son Jacques began to work with them, and soon, he designed dresses and coats made with original fabrics, working in particular with Sonia Delaunay. In 1930, the workshop became the Jacques Heim Fashion House.

In 1932, Jacques Heim launched "Atom," a two-piece swimsuit made from cotton evening dresses, which would be the precursor to the bikini.

Under the presidency of General de Gaulle, he became the designer of his wife, Yvonne de Gaulle.
