Myomers are sets of muscle tissue usually found in Chordates. In general, they have "V" or "W" shapes. They are interconnected by other tissues and are clearly visible in the fish larvae or in the barn owl. The count of myomers is sometimes used to identify specimens because their number corresponds to the number of vertebrae in adult specimens.
