Uljas Pulkkis

Uljas Voitto Pulkkis (Helsinki, July 22, 1975) is also a Fins componist.

To the end of his 19th year, it became clear that Pulkkis would become mathematician: he studied mathematics at the University of Helsinki. But in 1994 the music drew attention and went to the same educational institution to study composition at Tapani Länsiö. In the following year, a study of orchestration and composition took place at Harri Vuori.

In 1997 he completed these studies and moved to the Sibelius Academy for classes at Tapani Länsiö, Paavo Heininen and Tapio Nevanlinnen again. In 2002 he completed this study, but was already busy composing. During that study he also followed master classes with Magnus Lindberg, Jouni Kaipainen and Esa-Pekka Salonen.

Pulkkis won various awards for his compositions. In 2007, his first CD appeared at BIS Records, a label that releases music from young debuting Scandinavian composers more often. Artwork

Pulkkis wrote a violin, whistle, horn and piano concert. For his piano concert he won in 1999 in the category composition at the Queen Elisabeth Contest.
