Athanasio de Lobera


Fray Athanasio de Lobera (or also Fray Atanasio de Lobera) was a Spanish Cistercian Benedictine clergyman, a sixteenth-century historian. Born in Herce (La Rioja (Spain)), he died in Valladolid in 1605. He was a monk at the Monastery of Santa María de Montederramo in Galicia, and worked as a columnist for Felipe II (Epistola Historial a Felipe II). p> Works

Known for having written a monographic work on the province of León in the year 1596, entitled History of the greatness of the very old and famous city and Church of León. Other historical works are: the Chronology of the Kings of Spain, printed in Valladolid in 1602, a few years before his death.
