Giuseppe "Beppo" Occhialini (December 5, 1907 in Fossombrone, Pesaro, Italy, December 30, 1993), Italian physicist, who contributed to the discovery of the pion or the disintegration of the Pi inn in 1947, with César Lattes and Cecil Frank Powell (Nobel Prize in Physics). At the time of the discovery, they all worked at the H. H. Wills Laboratory of the University of Bristol.
The SAX X-ray satellite was named BeppoSAX in his honor after its launch in 1996. Additional reading
