Mercedes Zavala Gironés


Mercedes Zavala Gironés (Madrid, 1963) is a Spanish composer. Formed in Madrid and London, where she is influenced by Malcolm Singer. After his interest in theatrical music and African rhythms (study trip to Senegal in 1996), his composing career entered the circuits of contemporary music with commissions from the Alicante Festival, CDMC, Palencia Festival, National Auditorium, etc. < / p>

In addition to her creative career, she works as a teacher at the conservatory Teresa Berganza in Madrid, and a notable work in the dissemination of music by historical composers. From 2007 to 2010 she is president of the Women in Music Association. He has collaborated with National Radio of Spain, Radio Clásica, directing and presenting the program "Album of songs". He has been a member of several judges in composition awards.

His work, which shows a p for small camerísticas formations, is often inspired by literary and oriental themes, tending to miniatures and a writing that rejects the overloaded and seeks transparency.
