The main theme is Moonraker, written by John Barry and Hal David and played by Shirley Bassey, this being his third song for a James Bond film. The other two songs were Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever. The soundtrack was written by John Barry and differs from the early Bond films in using a completely melodic and symphonic style in keeping with the film's science fiction context. This symphonic sound arose from the maturation of Barry as a composer and would be used in later films such as Memoirs of Africa and Barry's last for Bond. The theme of James Bond appears for the second time in its symphonic version.
