New order of the ages

Back of the United States Great Stamp

Novus ordo seclorum is Latin for "New Order of the Times".

This phrase is located on the back of the United States Great Stamp and on the one-dollar bill; It was first used in 1782.

The sentence comes from the fourth Eclogue of Vergilius: Magnus ab integro saeclorum nascitur ordo - The great order of centuries has been reborn.

The translation "new world order" is incorrect. That would be "Novus ordo mundi" in Latin. The phrase "New World Order" is used by plot thinkers as a term for what they see as a totalitarian world government created by secret groups behind ordinary governments and other organizations.
