The Trinity

Trinidad Navarro Carrillo was a paya singer better known by the stage name of La Trini, she was born in Malaga in 1868 and died in her same town back in 1930. A remarkable figure of her time, she is one of the most famous cantaoras in history. It was not only an exceptional interpreter of malagueñas, but also a creator of several personal forms of the style, which have survived today and continue to sing a lot.

Pertaining to a very humble family, he dedicated himself to the cante since he was young, he triumphed soon and became famous not only in Malaga, but throughout Andalusia, working in the main singing cafes. He had a life full of disappointments (he lost an eye in his youth when his lover unintentionally prodded him with a knife when he offered him an olive, and Trini, wanting to take it with her lips, rushed in a certain way on the tip of the blade ).

For years, she owned a small inn in La Caleta (Málaga) that bore her name and where memorable cante meetings were held.
