Udāna is one of the oldest and most valuable texts of Buddhism belonging to the so-called Canon Pali. Important work from the literary, historical and philosophical point of view, transmits the most authentic teaching of the Buddha. It is composed of a collection of short and varied stories that have as their theme episodes from the life of Buddha and the first community of Buddhist monks. All these stories conclude with one or several stanzas that impart some important principle of Buddhist doctrine. Bibliography
