Zoran Janković
Zoran Jankovič (Saraorci at Smederevo, January 1, 1953) is a Slovenian entrepreneur and since 2006 mayor of Ljubljana.
Jankovič was born in a Serbian-Slovenian family in Saraorci village and moved to Ljubljana during his youth. There he studied economics and started a career in Slovenian business. From 1997 he worked for Mercator, Slovenia's largest retailer. As a director of the company, he built Mercator as the largest Slovenian company with a large number of locations in Southeast Europe.
Its disposal in 2006 by Mercator's board of directors is linked to the policy of the government of Janez Janša in the Slovenian press.
