K2-72 is a cold red dwarf star located approximately 227 light-years (70 ch) of Earth in the constellation of Aquarius. It is known to house four planets, all smaller than the Earth, with two of them residing within the habitable zone.

K2-72 is a M-type star which is about 21% of the mass and 23% of the radius of the Sun. It has a surface temperature of 3497 K and its age is unknown. In comparison, the Sun is approximately 4.6 billion years old and has a surface temperature of 5778 K.

The apparent magnitude of the star, or how bright it appears from the perspective of the earth, is unknown. Planetary system The star is known to harbor four planets (K2-72b, K2-72c, K2-72d and K2-72e) with two orbiting in the habitable zone. All are smaller than the Earth according to some magnitude.
