«Play it again, Sam», in Spanish or «Play it again, Sam», in English, is a famous phrase associated with the movie Casablanca (1942), directed by Michael Curtiz, played by Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart and winner of the Oscar award for best film, but which, in reality, is never pronounced throughout the film, neither in the original version nor in the dubbed in Castilian. What the character of Ingrid (Ilsa) actually says to the pianist is "Play it once" ("Play it once") and "Play it, Sam" ("Play it, Sam"), referring to a song she used to play in Paris, where she met the protagonist and Sam himself. The phrase became famous thanks to the 1972 film Dreams of a seducer (whose original title is precisely Play It Again, Sam), based on a work by Woody Allen and taken to the screen by director Herbert Ross.
The film is a film adaptation of a play by the New York genius, which Allen, Diane Keaton and Tony Roberts had previously played on Broadway. After the success of the theater piece (also known as Aspirin for two), Sueños de un seductor was one of Allen's first successes in cinema.
