The Rakata is a race belonging to the expanded Star Wars universe that appears in the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
It is composed of beings of aspect resembling the mon-calamari (almost identical) that with the power of the Force were able to build and drive stellar machines. Over time these beings began to lose their "sensitivity to the Force" and their two castes, the warrior and the priests (protectors of the technology of the Star Forge) began a war that devastated them completely and ended forever with the infinite empire.
In 3695 BC a young Sith Lord named Darth Revan, following the tracks the Rakatan left for the Star Forge, reached the Star-forge System where the Rakatan inhabited and gained the power of that instrument.
