Theo de Wit


Theo W.A. de Wit (Utrecht, 1953) studied theology and philosophy in Nijmegen. Since 1986, he is a associate professor of socio-political philosophy and cultural philosophy at the Catholic Theological University in Utrecht (KTU) and subsequently at the Faculty of Catholic Theology of Tilburg University (UvT).

The White published on themes such as democracy, power and representation, the connection and separation of politics and religion, political theology, and multiculturalism and tolerance. He wrote a dissertation on the political philosophy of Carl Schmitt (Political Inevitability, Nijmegen 1992). In addition to Carl Schmitt, De Wit also published Thomas Hobbes, Walter Benjamin, Jacob Taubes and Alain Finkielkraut. He edited eight books.
