Taschen is a publishing house of books. The publishing house was founded by Benedikt Taschen. He founded the company in 1980 when he sought a way to publish his own comics. Benedikt Taschen also founded a store in Cologne where he could sell his artistic literature. He was then 18 years old. The store was only 25 square meters in size.
