Taschen GmbH, Hohenzollernring 53, clubs, Germany

Taschen is a publishing house of books. The publishing house was founded by Benedikt Taschen. He founded the company in 1980 when he sought a way to publish his own comics. Benedikt Taschen also founded a store in Cologne where he could sell his artistic literature. He was then 18 years old. The store was only 25 square meters in size. In addition to his own publications, he also sold other comics. Sally Forth was Taschen's first ever album.

Taschen made art accessible to a large audience. Especially the series of paperbacks from various artists and influences of art from the 20th and 21st century are extremely popular. The collection is still growing. The combination of thoroughness, brevity and low prices explain the success. The series featured Magritte, Dalí, Haring, Escher, Minimal Art, Bauhaus, Rockwell, Wright, Gropius. In addition to a quote, a portrait (back cover) and the signature, it also contains a short biography and a selection of the most important works. Librero is the importer of Taschen in Belgium.

Topics such as architecture, design, photography, fashion and film are featured in the books. On the occasion of Taschen's 25th birthday, many titles were published in a special print and offered at cheap prices. Taschen's expenses are highly regarded, especially when it comes to literature on architecture. In all major cities such as Paris, Cologne, Brussels and Amsterdam there are shops of Taschen.
