José Carrone


José Carrone was a Salesian priest. He was born in Rosario (province of Santa Fe, Argentina) on October 25, 1916 and died in San Miguel de Tucumán, on October 19, 1988. Biography

In 1941 he was ordained a priest in the Salesian Order and served in different houses of that community, in the area of ​​Cuyo. In 1963 he was appointed director of the Salesian College "General Belgrano" of Tucumán. He then led a movement to obtain funds for the construction of the temple of Mary Help of Christians. It was the "campaign of the 5,000 bags of cement," which Carrone encouraged through the radio. Later, he assumed the functions of a priest in the parish of Don Bosco. In 1966, during the closure of the sugar mills, Father Carrone decided to respond to the needs of the inhabitants of his neighborhood. He founded the children's dining room "Don Bosco", paid for by donations, where he managed to give food to 300 people. In addition, from 1967 until the end of his life, every night he led a micro of spiritual thoughts called Reflection Momentum on TV channel 10 (from Tucumán). He was a very popular and beloved figure in that province. He died on October 19, 1988.
