Sabanetas


Sabanetas is a village in the municipality of Macuelizo in the department of Santa Bárbara (Honduras). It is a village made up of 96 families engaged in agriculture and livestock.

History

Sabanetas comes from the word "Savannah" meaning: tropical meadow populated with shrubs and diversity of trees of various types.

The first inhabitants lived in houses built of Bahareque or "muddy" (A mixture of mud, cylindrical wood, bejuco and small stone) soon began to make them of adobes and at the moment of concrete or blocks. They were emigrants from the departments of: Copán, Lempira and Ocotepeque. Location

It is located next to the detour that goes to Nueva Frontera, 4 km from the main road that leads to the city of Santa Rosa de Copán. Sabanetas, it is by the detour towards the municipality of Azacualpa with direction in Virrey, a village next to the main road; Sabanetas is after Cunta and former municipality of the town of Macuelizo municipal head. The village has houses built of bricks (blocks) and you can still appreciate those built with bahareque and adobe, there are also: a Catholic church, an evangelical. and a field (court) for sport.
