Department of Puente Alto


The Department of Puente Alto, was one of the departments in which the old Province of Santiago was divided before the regionalization of 1975.

This department - created with Law 12.997 of September 3, 1958, from the Department of Santiago - comprised the communes-subdelegations of the southeastern zone of Santiago, that is to say Puente Alto, San José de Maipo and Pirque. p>

In 1979, the departments were finally abolished and these communes became part of the new Province of the Cordillera, formed by the old departments of Puente Alto. In 1979, the new Province of Cordillera, is formed by the old department of Puente Alto.
