County of Rodez

The County of Rodez was a feudal entity created at the beginning of century XII by Raimundo of Tolosa from the possessions of the viscondado of Rodez that included the part of this this separated villa from the juridisción of the bishopric of Rodez, and a series of minor possessions of its integrated environment in the County of Roergue, that bequeathed to its officer, Viscount Ricardo, in recognition for its services. In the fourteenth century the county passed by marriage to the counts of Armagnac who would be known as counts of Rodez and Armagnac from John I, becoming one of the most outstanding families of the nobility of the kingdom of France during the century XV.

In 1515, the county arrived by alliances until Henry II of Navarre who by direct transmission passed it to his grandson Enrique, who after being proclaimed king of France, integrated it in the crown.
