Great communication road Florence-Pisa-Livorno

The FI-PI-LI superstrada has separate lanes, but no lane

The Strada di Grande Comunicazione Firenze-Pisa-Livorno, abbreviated to FI-PI-LI (FIrenze - PIsa - LIvorno) is a four-lane road (2 + 2) with separated lanes that connect Florence with Pisa and Livorno . This motorway is next to the Autostrada A11 (Autostrada Firenze-Mare) the second road link between the cities of Florence and Pisa.

The FI-PI-LI is a superstrada (highway that does not meet the motorway standards but with separate lanes) and has a comparatively narrow and curved path compared to the parallel autostrada A11. There is a maximum speed of 90 km / h, in some turns even 80 or 70 km / h. This road starts at Florence / Scandicci, crosses the A1, leads along Empoli and Pontedera and splits at Cascina in a branch to Pisa and a branch to Livorno.
