"Holier Than Thou" is the third song of the fifth album of the American heavy metal band, Metallica. It is the fastest song and with less duration of the disc with a very aggressive and heavy lyrics remembering legendary songs, brief but very powerful. The lyrics refer to arrogance, gossip, rumors, in a way a criticism of society, by its way of judging people. This song was chosen by the band and Bob Rock to be the first single from the album, however; this idea was finally rejected at the request of one of its managers who proposed Enter Sandman as the most suitable single to make the new LP known.
