Intervention (TV show)

Intervention is an American reality TV program broadcast by A & E.

Each chapter follows several participants, who suffer some form of addiction and believe they are being filmed for a documentary about addictions. In fact, their addictions are documented in anticipation of an intervention with their families and friends. Participants can choose to go to a rehab center immediately, or run the risk of losing touch with their loved ones. Often, other tactics are used to convince the person that he or she needs treatment. These tactics tend to vary depending on the situation. Producers usually follow the sufferer for several months to film their progress or setbacks in the fight against their addiction.

Although programs like Intervention generally preach some kind of moral message, A & E's proposal tends to refrain from commenting. Thus, the interpretation of what is shown is the responsibility of the viewer.

Each intervention is led by one of four program specialists: Jeff VanVonderen, Candy Finnigan, Ken Seeley or Tara Fields.
