Gerhard Knappstein (1948) is a German mechanical engineer and author.

Gerhard Knappstein was trained as a mechanical engineering technician and graduated in mechanical engineering, after three years in the field as a calculator engineer. Knappstein is wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter at the Institut für Mechanik und Regelungstechnik at the University of Siegen.
