Role play

A role play or asymmetrical game is a board game in which players play according to different rules depending on the role assigned to them. Anglophones speak of "variable power game" (variable power game).

Roles can be freely chosen or randomly assigned. They can be fixed for the whole game or change every turn.

This notion is distinct from that of role play, in which one interprets a role (in the theatrical sense).

In addition to playing according to different rules, players may sometimes have different goals. We can thus distinguish: games where players have different goals, for example:

Games whose players have different goals but follow the same rules are not strictly speaking role-playing games. We're talking about a secret game, like Risk or Heimlich & amp; Co ..
