Castle of Barroux.
The castle of Barroux is a military fortress of XII century France located on a rocky peak that dominates the locality of Le Barroux, in the department of Vaucluse.
The castle was transformed during the Renaissance into a magnificent fortress. Abandoned during the eighteenth century, it fell into a state of abandonment and ruin until its purchase, in 1929 by M. Vayson de Pradenne, who promoted its reconstruction. Burned by the German occupation troops, it was restored during the 1960s.
Today it is still owned by the Vayson family of Pradennes, although it is managed by an association of friends of the castle.
