The Safari Rally 1983, official 31st Marlboro Safari Rally, was the 31st edition of the Safari Rally and the fourth round of the World Championship rally in 1983. It was the 115th rally in the World Championship rally organized by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The start and finish took place in Nairobi.

In the last World Cup performance for the Opel Ascona 400 factory headman Ari Vatanen wrote the rally on his name. On the eve of the last day he was still out of the top five, but in the final phase of the event, he quickly took the lead position after many competition fought back by problems. The Audi Garde finished the stage with Hannu Mikkola and Michèle Mouton ending second and third respectively.
