Parkville (Victoria)


Parkville is a locality located in the north of Melbourne, Victoria. It has an area of ​​4 km² and a population of 4980 inhabitants. History

Parkville South was founded in 1861 and is the oldest urban division of the town. In 1868 part of the Royal Park was taken for the housing allowance in Parkville North and Parkville West.

During the world wars of the twentieth century Royal Park was used as a campaign site for military troops, with Camp Pell being a camp site for US forces during World War II.

The 2006 Commonwealth Games Sports Village was in Parkville.
