Jan Grauls


Jan Grauls (12 February 1948) is a Belgian diplomat.

He studied Law at the University of Antwerp and at the Catholic University of Louvain. He began his diplomatic career in 1973, serving in various destinations in Tunisia, the Federal Republic of Germany, and in the permanent representation of the European Economic Community in the United Kingdom and the United States, until he went to the office of the Prime Minister of Belgium as diplomatic assistant. In 2002 he was appointed Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, leaving in June 2008 to be the permanent representative of Belgium to the United Nations as ambassador. It presided over the United Nations Security Council in August 2008, according to the rotation rotation established.
