Albino (lang-el: Ἀλβῖνος; fl., 150 AD) was a Platonist philosopher, who lived in Smyrna, and was a teacher of Galen.A short work of his authorship entitled Introduction to the dialogues of Plato, has arrived until our days. From the title of one of the manuscripts it is known that Albino was a disciple of Gaio the Platonist, the original title of his work was probably Prologues, and it is probable that it was originally the first section of notes taken from the Gaio lectures. Explain the nature of the Dialogue, which compares with a Drama, the writer groups the Dialogues of Plato into four classes, logical, critical, physical, ethical, and mentions another grouping of them in Tetralogies, according to their themes. Recommends that the Alcibiades, Phaedo, the Republic, and the Timaeus, should be read in succession.
