A video game remake is a video game adapted from a previously developed game, usually for the purpose of modernizing a game for newer material and a contemporary audience. In general, a remake of such games essentially shares the same title, basic gameplay concepts and core elements of the original game story.

A remake usually shares very little code or data with the original title, distinguishing it from advanced porting, partial remaking, or remastering.

Video game remakes are often designed by the original developer or copyright owner, sometimes by the fan community. If created by a community of players, the remake of a video game is sometimes also called fangame and can be considered part of the retrogaming phenomenon. Notes and edit the code
