Kāng

Zhòng Kāng (仲康) was the fourth ruler of the legendary Xia Dynasty, younger brother of Tai Kang, his predecessor as ruler.

He took the throne due to his brother's mismanagement, in the year of Jichou (己丑), and kept the capital in Zhenxun.

During the day of Gengwu (庚戌), September in the 5th year of his regime, there was, according to various sources, a solar eclipse, (an important event at that time).

Zhòng Kāng ordered one of his generals, Zeng (胤), to lead his troops with the aim of conquering Yihe, where the local king, lover of good wine and women, gave his citizens a bad life.

In the 6th year of his regime, he appointed Kunwu (昆吾) as its prime minister. His son, named Xiāng, would not reside with him in the capital but would live in Shangqiu, under the tutelage of another of the king's ministers, Pi (邳).
