Nayda Movement


The Nayda is a Moroccan cultural movement that can be roughly translated into the word uprising in Arabic. This movement is for the moment of essentially musical character, with in particular a great dominant resulting from the musical culture hip-hop and the Moroccan Rap. One of its main manifestations, apart from the birth of many fusion groups, is the Boulevard Festival of young musicians that takes place every year in Casablanca, the Alegria del Norte festival, held in the city of Chauen, the Festival Timitar in Agadir, or the incomparable Gnawa music festival in Essaouira or the concerts for tolerance in Marrakech.

Among the main figures of this movement of the groups such as: Mafia C, H-Kayne, Fnaïre, Zanka Flow, Bigg, Darga, Hoba Hoba Spirit, Oum, Ahmed Soltan, Khansa Batma, Muslim, Steph Raggaman, Joudia, Casa Crew, among others.

The Nayda cultural movement is similar to the Movida Madrileña, for some it is an artificial or purely commercial phenomenon and they consider it a passenger, but for the vast majority it is creating an authentic cultural revolution in the country, since there is finally freedom of expression in the art even asin sigen having certain points criticized by the same artists as the censorship in the radios that generally affects the hip hop culture.
