A military ordinary is an army diocese of the Catholic Church responsible for the mental care of soldiers.
A personal ordination is a non-territorial unit within the Roman Catholic hierarchy, usually under the authority of a bishop. The possibility of establishing such a unit was provided by Pope Benedict XVI in November 2009 through the apostolic constitution of Anglicanorum Coetibus. This possibility was made possible to allow reunification with anglicans who are dissatisfied with certain trends within the Anglican Church. Between 2009 and 2012, three such personal ordinarians were established.
