Als (in German, Alsen) is a Danish island located in the Strait of Small Belt (sea Baltic) in the coast of Jutlandia and united to her by two fixed bridges that cross the fjord of Als and the homonymous channel. The island has an extension of 321 km² and according to the Danish statistical service, Danmarks Statistik, had a population of 51,007 inhabitants in 2012. Sønderborg is the capital, Nordborg and Augustenborg are other important towns.
