Kitty Canutt

Kitty Canutt

Kitty Canutt, born Kitty Wilks, is a rodeo professional, and All-Around Cowgirl Champion at the Pendleton Round-Up 1916 in Pendleton, for the horseback and relay race events. It was during this rodeo that she met and married Yakima Canutt, winner of the title of All-Around Cowboy at the Pendleton Round-Up in 1917, 1919, 1920 and 1923. They divorced in 1919.

She was nicknamed Diamond Girl or Diamond Kitty because she had a diamond in her tooth. Sometimes she took the diamond for the pledge when she needed money to pay the entrance fee for a contest. edit code
