Melted well


A masonry pit is a type of water well, the inner lining of which is brick-bonded bricks, which can taper a bit if it is a round pit. The vault resulting from this can withstand high pressure. This method is suitable for the construction of wells of considerable depth.

The water from such a well can be picked up using a pulley or using a lever.

About 1900, water pumps with swing hinge, which were replaced by water pipelines for some decades.
