Progressive Encounter-Broad Front

The Progressive Encounter - Frente Amplio was an Uruguayan electoral coalition formed for the 1994 elections with the Frente Amplio and other left-wing parties (Corriente 78 and Partido Demócrata Cristiano among others).

At present, all the political parties that form part of it formally form part of the Frente Amplio. In 2004 it would form a new coalition with the New Space which would receive the name of Progressive Encounter-Wide Front-New Majority. The same would emerge victorious of the presidential elections of that same year with 50.7% of the votes.

After these elections, and being the governing party, all the groups of the Progressive Encounter as well as the New Space resolve to join the Frente Amplio, accepting their entry into the National Plenary of the FA on November 19, 2005. p>
