Carl Bergmann


Karlmann Bergmann (18 May 1814-30 April 1865) was a German anatomist, physiologist and biologist who developed the Bergmann Rule. Biography

Karl Bergmann obtained his doctorate doctor at the University of Göttingen in 1838. Doctor and professor of anatomy and physiology in Rostock. Between 1839 and 1862 he published a series of works of comparative anatomy in Johannes Peter Müller (1801-1858) für de Archiv Anatomie, Physiologie und wissenschaftliche Medicin.

Bergmann was a private teacher in Göttingen, a professor considered extraordinary in 1843. On October 2, 1852 was appointed Professor Ordinarius and member of the commission of Medicine in Rostock. He was appointed Obermedicinalrath in 1861. He died in Geneva on April 30, 1865, when he returned from Mentone, where he had spent the winter due to his weak health. Bibliography
