Explosievormen

Schedule of explosion molds

Explosion molds are a molding technique, whereby metal sheet is transformed into a desired shape by means of a controlled explosion. The technique is little known and is not widely applied due to the long production cycle. method

The metal plate is laid over a single die (thus mold), after which the space between the plate and the mold is vacuumed to avoid unwanted distortions. All this is brought into a liquid bath together with an explosive. The liquid distributes the pressure of the explosion evenly over the plate and thus deforms the metal plate to the mold shape. This creates a shaped product without seams. For high quality and accuracy of the finished shape, it is necessary to simulate the process beforehand with computer programs. This can avoid any cracks and weak places in the molded product.
