Hans Adalbert Schweigart


Hans Adalbert Schweigart, born July 7, 1900 in Biberberg and died August 2, 1972, is a German chemist and nutritionist.

He studied chemistry in Berlin and Munich. In 1924, he obtained his doctorate with a thesis on potato amylase. He coined the term vital substances in 1935. He was director of the Institute for Care and Storage of Agricultural Trade Research at the Friedrich Wilhelm University in Berlin.

Schweigart was the first president of the international scene of The World Union for the Protection of Life in Luxembourg in 1964 and organized the Congress of the International Society of Vital Substances and Diseases of Civilization. Publicationsedit code
