Martien van Doorne


Martinus Peter John Hubertus van Doorne (Eindhoven, April 22, 1932 - Waalre, April 18, 2006) is the son of DAF founder Hub van Doorne. Martien played a role in the family business.

Van Doorne was also the builder of a country house in the castle park at the Groot Kasteel in Deurne, called Wolfsberg. This part of the castle park was built between 1892 and 1918 on the former farmlands of the castle farm.

For his many work at DAF and his great involvement in the association life in Deurne, Van Doorne received the title Knight in the Order of the Dutch Lion. In addition, he carried the titles Knight of the Holy Grave of Jerusalem and Commander in the Order of Saint Gregory the Great.

He died four days before his 74th birthday. Van Doorne was married to Elly Derix (1936-2007) and had three sons, including Marc van Doorne, and one daughter. Martien van Doorne lived the last years of his life in Waalre. Trivia
