Sergei Mitrofanovitsj Gorodetsky (Russisch: Sergei Mitrofanovich Gorodetsky) (Sint-Petersburg, January 17 [O.S. 5 januari] 1884 - Obninsk (Oblast Kaloega), June 8, 1967) was a Russian dichter and Sint-Petersburg. Life and work

Sergej Gorodetski has studied History and Language and Literature at the University of St. Petersburg together with Alexander Alexander Blok. He initially felt attracted to symbolism, but later turned away. He was, together with Nikolaj Goemiljov, the founder of the Dichtersgilde (Цех поэтов), a movement in Russian poetry that originated in 1910. The movement was later called acmeism. Acmeism contradicted symbolism and sought a clear expression through images. The group of the acmeists also included Osip Mandelstam and Anna Achmatova. Gorodski, unlike many of his fellow poets, survived the Stalinist purifications.
