Agustín Jaureguízar


Agustín Jaureguízar (Ferrol, July 18, 1935) is a critic, lecturer, columnist, historian and collector of science fiction and one of the greatest experts in science fiction in Spanish.

Road engineer and real estate developer by profession, Agustín Jaureguízar became known in the field of Spanish science fiction when dealing with the stories of novel authors in the magazine New Dimension, then going on to the so-called "green pages" of information. As a researcher of proto-science fiction, and for nearly forty years, he has written a large number of studies, popularizing figures such as Enrique Gaspar, José de Elola or Nilo María Fabra.

As a bibliophile, he owns a specialized library of about 5,000 volumes. In his work as a writer he has won the Ignotus Prize for the best article (1998). The Spanish Association of Fantasy and Science Fiction gave in 1991 the Gabriel Prize to the work of a life.

He has frequently used the pseudonym «Augusto Uribe».
