Loviatar (also known as Loveatar, Lovetar, Lovehetar, Louhetar, and Louhiatar) is the blind deity of disease and plague, daughter of Tuoni, the god of death; and of Tuonetar, mistress of darkness, in Finnish mythology. She was trained to be the worst of all the figures who inhabit the underworld of darkness.

The wind impregnated Loviatar with her smoothness and made her pregnant; after a time, gave birth to nine children who correspond, according to the interpretations of scholars and hermeneutics, to the nine diseases most frequent during the Middle Ages.
