NSP5 (non-structural proteins 5) segmentally encodes the rotavirus group A genome 11. In cells infected by the NSP5 virus accumulates in the viroplasmas. NSP5 has also been shown to autophosphorylate by the interaction of NSP5 with NSP2. In rotavirus the cells infected by NSP5 and NSP2 nonstructural proteins are located in complexes called viroplasms, where replication and assembly occur before can occur to the formation of structures such as viroplasm in the absence of other rotavirus proteins and the very replication of rotavirus.
