Soupe Opera

Soupe-Opéra is a children's television program. Created in France in 1991, produced by Marlou Films.

In Australia it was originally televised by channel ABC1, but is currently broadcast on its sister signal ABC2. In Latin America it was broadcast by Cartoon Network, Eleven Children and Magic Kids

The program is cult in France and Australia. This is mainly due to the teenagers of the present era who saw the show when it was new in the first half of 1990. The original episodes have been being uploaded to YouTube. plot

In each episode, fruits and vegetables came out of a basket spontaneously, moving by themselves, and were cut to form animals and objects. The animals then performed other actions, such as eating the leftovers. In some episodes, food comes out of a trash can to form animals, like a possum. Music and sound effects

Each episode has more or less the same song, played throughout the short. The differences consist of small sound effects when the animal eats, makes noises, etc. The main song begins with only a female voice singing "Soupe Opéra" with French accent. Then there are computer-generated drums, with a strong 4/4 beat, and a voice that sang in a kind of groan "Ah Oo Oo Oo Oh Oh". The sound of this song, with its somewhat random sound effects, is typical of the 1990s.
