History

The place name is first documented in the year 955 with the form Pruydo. There are news of the church of Sant Andreu de Pruit since the beginning of the 12th century and that of Sant Llorenç Dosmunts since the 13th century. These churches, like others in the municipality, suffered damage in the 15th century because of the earthquake that struck part of northern Catalonia and in 1936 as a result of the civil war. In 1977 the municipality of Pruit joined the one of Rupit to form the one of Rupit and Pruït. Places of interest Curiosities
