Yaqub Al-Ghusayn


Yaqub Al-Ghusayn, (1899-1947) is a Palestinian landowner in Ramla and the founder of the Youth Congress Party. He is a graduate of Cambridge University in Law. Chusayn was elected president of the first Youth Congress Party, held in Jaffa in January 1932. He was a member and representative of his party at the High Arab Committee at its formation in 1936. In 1937 he was a member of the Muslim Supreme Council . On October 1 of the same year, he was exiled by the British to Seychelles for being a member of the High Arab Committee, which was dissolved by the British. He was also part of the delegation of Palestinians attending the London Conference at St. James Palace in February 1939 alongside Musa Al-Alami. Ghusayn rebuilt his faction in 1945. He died in Jerusalem on December 27, 1947.

He was married to Thuriya Nuseibeh, together they had 11 children.
