Dodge Mirada

The Dodge Mirada was a mid-sized, rear-wheel-drive coupe built from 1980-83, and was one of three production cars on the Chrysler J platform, the other models were the second-generation Chrysler Cordoba and the Imperial, these three vehicles have been the answer of Chrysler to the reduction of the lines of the automobiles. The Look was 800 lbs (360 kg) lighter and its wheelbase 2.3 "shorter (112.7" vs. 115 ") than the Magnum that was replaced. Production numbers were low, with slightly less of 53,000 units sold during its production cycle. The Mirada would remain relatively unchanged during its 4 years of production, with the exception of paint and engine colors, and was replaced by 600 in 1983. Due to the low production and the survival rate, looks today are getting a limited interest from collectors, especially the models with the 5.9 liter V8 engine. Commercialization

El Mirada was marketed as a personal luxury car, a very popular segment at that time. Its competitors were the Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and Ford Thunderbird. His publicity and popularity were limited, as the car was introduced when Chrysler was in deep financial difficulties.
